The latest TikTok sensation: Wheel specialist franchisees at work

Fancy yourself as a TikTok star? As a franchisee with The Wheel Specialist, your superior wheel refurbishment skills can reach an audience of millions.
TikTok, the app that shares ultra-short videos, is most often associated with young people dancing or doing gymnastics. Then Pete Clarke, sales and marketing specialist at The Wheel Specialist, came up with the idea of using TikTok to show alloy wheels being transformed by spray powder coating to a glowing range of bright colours. The results were massive.
“The first video I put on TikTok got two million views in a day!” says Pete. “In the first couple of days it got another 10,000 views every minute. We were not expecting them to be such a massive success, but the hypnotic quality of watching a wheel being transformed from a grey to bright colours such as candy blue, lime green or scarlet is irresistible.”
TikTok started out with a very young user demographic, but during lockdown its appeal has broadened to include more people who are potential customers for The Wheel Specialist – which is good news for its existing and prospective franchisees.
Mark Ryan, The Wheel Specialist’s North Glasgow franchisee, who has made some of the Tiktok videos, says: “This raises our profile among potential customers, who can see what happens to their wheels. It’s a benefit for all of the Wheel Specialist franchisees, as it increases awareness of our brand and showcases the work of our technicians, who naturally share the videos with their friends.”
Mark is firmly convinced of the value of videos in marketing and has made some for Instagram which promote his work for The Wheel Specialist. He has also featured in some videos that The Wheel Specialist has put on YouTube, and there are more to come.
Pete Clarke says: “We are creating a series of YouTube video tutorials about wheel care and repair, which will also feature franchisees and technicians. They will be available for viewing in November.”
TikTok and YouTube videos are just some of the marketing content that The Wheel Specialist head office undertakes on behalf of its franchisees. It also sets up Facebook and Instagram pages for all of its franchisees and provides them with fresh content daily, as part of its overall franchisee support package.
The Wheel Specialist is seeking more franchisees to continue its ongoing plans for expansion.
